CORPORATE RUMOR:

Grameenphone on Tuesday announced that Rubaba Dowla Matin, the chief communications officer, has resigned on personal grounds. The largest mobile-phone operator in Bangladesh in a press release said Kazi Monirul Kabir, head of regional sales, has replaced Matin. Interesting but true, Kazi Monirul Kabir have the Marketing Chief at Banglalink earlier. The experienced executive caps another top designation to his name after BAT, Rahimafrooz, Banglalink and Market Access. Rumor says, as CCO, Kabir will also be part of the Grameenphone management team.

Media-savvy Matin has been at the centre of the rumour swirling over the last week that she had been fired, or she had called it quits. Earlier, Rubaba is reported to have said last thursday, "I haven't resigned." Talat Kamal, deputy general manager of public relations, tried to keep it low, saying "She (Dowla) is doing office, I talked to her this morning."

Rumor says, The announcement came after days of speculations that she and several other senior executives had been sacked on the process.

MUSIC RUMOURS:

Fuad and Mila reportedly spent a few lakh taka to bribe the media to keep silent about their marriage whose news got leaked when they went to New York together for their honeymoon. Mila also has a secret 5 year old child from her first marriage. (her marriage with Fuad is her third marriage. her second marriage was with a pilot named Parvez Sanjari and her first marriage was with a army soldier Ahmed.) Mila also recently had a makeover and a surgery operation on her very large nose and face to make herself look more like her idol Tishma, who she copies blindly.

Another music rumour: the rumour that Baby Naznin's song was copied by Pritam is false. they both stole the tune from a famous Punjabi folk song and Preetam has never even heard Baby Naznin's song!

BRAC University is again raising tuition fees. In fear of a revolt, this has not been published in the notice board, assuming they are waiting for the last moment. Moreover students inquiring and demanding explanations have been either harassed or threatened. A severe train accident took place at the maghbazar rail crossing today in the afternoon. 1 bus (Ajmeri Paribahan) and 3 cars got crashed. 1 cars survived by luck. A women died on spot. Rumor says, all these happened just because a CNG bumped on a car at some 30 yards from the rail line and they started fighting at the middle of the road creating a huge traffic behind. Even hearing the siren of the rail crossing, initially they didn't bother. By the time they realized the emergence, it was all over.

NSU Rumors:

After only 3 days of classes at the NSU new campus, students are already getting bored as there is no happening around the campus as there was around the Banani campus. Many are referring it as a prison!!

Only one single canteen is serving 8000 students of nsu at its new campus which makes it the most crowded spot at NSU. Student have no other option as there is no decent fastood or food facility near by. This however doesnt mean the food they serve is not decent!

KFC, Western Grill, Abacus applied to set up a branch within the NSU New Campus parameters. KFC has been denied and they plan to open a branch near by instead. The mentioned 3 had branches adjacant to Banani campus which have deserted.

American Burger's Bashundhara Branch is running out of buns and patties by noon since the opening of NSU new campus. They plan to shift buns and patties from the Banani Branch as that branch has deserted after NSU has moved away from Banani.

The amphitheatre at NSU bashundhara has become a popular hangout spot and is more widely known as 'Gallery'. However, the new proctor has declared it as his no.1 mission to prevent the smoking happening there. other than 'Gallery', many refer it as the new smoking zone!

Students are awaiting the opening of Jamuna Future park to use it as a walk through transit to reach the campus from the main road via a airconditioned atmosphere.

Appolo Hospitals canteen is becomming an increasing popular place for NSU students to dine and have coffee. Entrants will soon have to show a patient certificate signed by the local chairman, comissioner
to enter the hospital!

Many of the preferred singles of NSU are now on the hunt for a bf/gf as there is nothing else much to do in the new campus!

This semester has seen a decrease in the number of new female entrants. Possibly because of the increased fees, families are reluctant to send their daughters to NSU but only the sons.
The famous cartoon 'Meena' is planning to comeup with an episode highlighting this issue. Possible dialouge:-

The Hype: Nokia was expecting the biggest hype of all time among the net browsing crowd in Bangladesh with the announcement of Nokia N97 and N86 launching. Rumor says, last night officials had fight regarding the billboard with countdown at the Gulshan 1 circle. Most of the top officials claimed, people did not understand the "Countdown" at the billboard (!!!)

That was not all, due to a non-glamorous approach of the model holding N97, people did not get much attracted to the phone with so many features at the launching date announcement ceremony.

Rumor says, someone sent a written complain against the parent of the questioneer of  IELTS,"Why did he/she create such a harsh daughter/son?" However, rumor says, though most of the students would not be able to make even 6, some private tution centers were making fake videos, where examinees were saying,"I have learnt a lot from this centre that's why I was confident at the exam." Interestingly, they were asked not to talk about their expected point after the exam.

ATN chairman Mahfuzur Rahman denied that he sent armed men to capture a Gulshan house which he claimed he had bought recently! The so called current owners were actually renting the place (for 35 years!) and refused to move!

Rumor says, he is right about using non-violent method...neighbours saw Eva Rahman singing (Eva-teasing) near the main gate...seconds before residents leaving the house frantically...the armed men basically stormed the building afterwards to find survivors....

FYI, Mahfuzur Rahman is planning to turn this prime location into 'Eva Rahman institue for TV channel owner's wives who can't sing good'!

Best Air, the countrys fourth private carrier has been out of business for the last 5 months since their only aircraft has been grounded by the civil aviation authority due to safety reasons. The chairmanman, Mr. Haidar Uzzaman previously spoke to media about his dreams to come up with a fleet of NEW GENERATION (NG) aircraft. Also his dreams on building a NEW GENERATION airport(!) on the outskirts of Dhaka. In the aviation industry he has become a clown and is more popular to be known as MR.NG. Recently this MR.NG applied for the post of MD for Biman despite his airline being grounded! More interestingly, after inagurating the first Colombo-Dhaka flight, Mr.NG himself took another carrier to fly back to Dhaka!!

One of GMG's dash 8 aircraft has been held by bangladesh flying club for the past 12-14 months. The aircraft of the country's 1st private carrier was bought into the flying club hangar for maintainance but failed to pay the bills for using the hangar space. for the last 5-6 months no maintainance has been done either as the flying club authority has restricted the engineers from nearing the aircraft unless the bills are paid. The aircraft is covering up 3/5th of the hangar space for which it must pay about 15000-17000 taka per day!!

Dear MHPR team

I am very disappointed by your handling of the press conference today. It's 1 p.m. and the back drop has just reached the venue. The press release has not yet reached. Where as the press conference was supposed to start at 12 P.M.

I have mentioned a number of times that we should be ready at least 15 minutes before the scheduled time and before the guests arrive.

Specially, this press conference has been arranged by Nokia on behalf Bangladesh Mobile Importers' Association. The unprofessional handling of this event reflects very badly on Nokia. Traffic is a very bad excuse to reach late in Dhaka. We all know the traffic scenario.

I know the press release reached you late and I sent the email attachment at 7:30a.m. That gives enough time to take 50 copies of print out and deliver on the venue by 12 p.m.! I even said there's no need to translate considering the time.

If you expressed your inability to handle the event, I could have arranged alternatives to make sure it runs smoothly.

I know this is just one incident and you work really hard for all Nokia events. But one mismanaged event for external stakeholders reflects very poorly on the overall professionalism and effort by the company.

Recently Nokia had their PR pitch called. And MastHead PR got the account. There is a strong rumor that some one from Nokia team helped MHPR from the inside against certain amount of money to get the account. rumor also says, the strategic team of Grey helped MHPR to develop the presentation as MHPR lacked the expertise. However, by doing so Grey made the GP communication team (including the CCO, Rubaba) a bit angry, as MHPR looks after the PR and media buying account of BL. and is reviewing Grey's credibility to ensure confidentiality regarding GP's campaigns, which accordingly often was disclosed to BL at many times.
